Christopher Allen Trust

The West Devon  English Language School is proud to support the Christopher Allen Trust.

Christopher Allen was a teenager whose life was tragically cut short by Leukaemia in the summer of 2006. Throughout his illness, he expressed a desire to help fellow sufferers who found themselves in hospital. The Christopher Allen Trust was set up to fulfil his wish and to raise money for teenage Leukaemia sufferers. At the end of each year we provide money to a teenage Leukaemia patient, in order to make their lives a little more comfortable in hospital.

Christopher Allen
Christopher was a normal, fun loving teenage boy. In September 2005 he was diagnosed with Leukaemia and began a long and painful period of treatment. Throughout his treatment, he endured numerous stays in hospital, often for months at a time as well as having to travel to London for a transplant. Sadly in the summer of 2006, after almost a year of fighting, he lost his battle. The Christopher Allen Trust aims to keep his memory alive by helping those who find themselves in similar situations.

What is the money used for?
Spending a long time in hospital is often a dull and boring experience. We provide patients with things that can make their stay more comfortable such as DVD’s, books, games etc.
In addition, long stays in hospital can also prove to be very costly for the families, especially if a patient is forced to receive treatment in a hospital outside Plymouth. The money raised is used to help families with travel, accommodation and food expenses.

What you do to help?
£2 of each student's course fee goes directly into the Christopher Allen Trust.

How else do we raise money?
The trust raises money throughout the year in the form of fund raising events and donations. All the money we make goes towards helping teenage Leukaemia sufferers like Christopher.  We appreciate all the help and support we get.
